Membership

BAC welcomes new members who would enjoy being in touch regularly with contemporary artists and art life in the locality. The Club aims to promote an understanding of contemporary work, sharing ideas at art-related events and activities amongst members.  Whilst the club does mount regular exhibitions, it is not primarily a selling or a teaching club.

The Club consists of Full Members and Associates.  The Annual Fee is currently £25 for Members and £15 for Associates. Special events and tutored days may attract extra charges.

The Membership year runs from 1st January each year when subscriptions become payable. However, for those joining after 1st September only half the fee would be required for the remainder of that Membership year.

Members
Full exhibiting membership is by selection.  Successful applicants will be able to participate in all club activities, and are entitled to submit work for any exhibition organised by BAC/Southern Contemporaries, where work submitted will be subject to selection.  By tradition, they have the right to have one work exhibited at the membersí Annual BAC exhibition.

Associates
Are entitled and encouraged to participate in all the club activities, except exhibitions, for as many years as they like.  This category may also attract non-practising artists who have a keen interest in art.

Friends
Several professional artists are linked to BAC/SC as Friends.  They share their knowledge and skills with the Club members through lectures, workshops and studio visits.  There are also opportunities for the Friends to exhibit alongside the members at Exhibitions when space allows.

Application for membership is made through the Membership Secretary

Committed artists who are familiar with Bournemouth Arts Club/Southern Contemporaries and have seen recent Exhibitions may apply directly for full Membership and request a place on the next Selection day.

It is expected that Applicants should demonstrate a considered, individual approach to their work and expertise in their chosen media; they should have experience of exhibiting their work.

Prospective members are welcome to join in club events at visitor rates.
