Daphne Speight

Having had a love of drawing since childhood, Daphne commenced her study of art part-time in 1980 as a mature student and, after obtaining an A-level Certificate in painting and art history went on to gain further certificates in drawing and colour theory.  From 1997-1999 she studied part-time at the Arts Institute, Bournemouth, obtaining the College Diploma in Fine Art.

Daphne works in most media and enjoys a variety of subject matter, but is particularly interested in drawing and painting the human figure, both in portraiture and more complex works depicting the day-to-day activities of ordinary people.  Colour and texture are important elements in all her work.
